Guangdong-Hong Kong Joint Research Center for Optical Fiber Sensing Technology is a provincial-level scientific research platform approved by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology in 2015. It is jointly established by Shenzhen University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The research center is oriented to the underlying information acquisition and sensor technology of the Internet of Things technology, focusing on the basic research of the application of new photonic devices and sensing systems. Main research directions: (1) Fiber Bragg Grating Sensing Technology; (2) Fiber Microcavity Sensing Technology; (3) Femtosecond Laser Micro-Nano Processing Technology; (4) Fiber Microflow Sensing Technology; (5) Extreme Environment Fiber Transmission Sensing technology; (6) Optical fiber vortex optical field control technology. The research center has established the "Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Photonic Devices and Sensing Systems for the Internet of Things" and "Shenzhen Optical Materials Femtosecond Laser Preparation Technology Engineering Laboratory", with an ultra-clean laboratory of 500 square meters and more than 50 million yuan of special instruments and equipment for optical fiber sensing. The research center currently has 25 key scientific researchers. Professor Wang Yiping, Director of the Research Center, is a National Outstanding Youth, a Leading Talent in the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, and a Distinguished Professor of Shenzhen University; Professor Jin Wei, Director of the Research Center in Hong Kong, is a National Outstanding Youth, Yangtze River Scholar, and Chair Professor of Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

In the past five years, the research center has won 25 talent programs and scientific research awards such as the National Science Fund for Outstanding Youth, Leading Talents of the National Ten Thousand Talents Program, and the First Prize of Shenzhen Natural Science Award; 83 scientific research projects have been approved (23 at the national level, 27 at the provincial and ministerial level, and 33 at the municipal level), with a project funding of more than 50 million yuan; published 128 SCI papers (10 in the first district and 85 in the second district); hosted 3 international conferences; authorized 10 Chinese invention patents and 43 utility model patents Project; actively carried out project technical cooperation with aerospace science and industry, China Aviation Development, Huawei and other enterprises. The research center focuses on the cultivation of postgraduates and has trained 63 postgraduates (15 doctoral students and 48 master students); 53 postgraduates have won national scholarships and other awards, 80 people have participated in international and domestic academic conferences, and 35 oral presentations. Postgraduates have good employment prospects, mainly working in internationally renowned companies such as Huawei or going abroad for further study. The research center adheres to the construction concept of a high starting point and a high level, and carries out innovative work around the four core directions of professional construction, talent training, scientific research, and industrial application in the field of photonic devices and sensing systems, and is committed to becoming an internationally influential company in this field. research team.
